Designated as a National Park in 2020, New River Gorge protects 72,808 acres of land along one of the oldest rivers in North America. The park features spectacular sandstone cliffs rising up to 1,000 feet above the rushing waters of the New River.

Known for its world-class rock climbing and whitewater rafting, the park also preserves the rich history of West Virginia's coal mining and railroading heritage. The iconic New River Gorge Bridge stands as a testament to modern engineering above this ancient river valley.
