Established as a National Recreation Area in 1974 and designated as a National Park in 2000, Cuyahoga Valley protects 32,572 acres along the Cuyahoga River. Located between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, the park preserves the natural, cultural, and historical legacy of the Ohio and Erie Canal era.
The park features a unique blend of natural and cultural attractions, including the historic Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, scenic waterfalls, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, and numerous historic structures that tell the story of human settlement and industrial development in the valley.
